It feels like I've been doing this for years. Well, I guess I have. I started about 3 years ago and have so far produced 11 audiobooks. Independent authors, self-published authors, are a curious breed and a diverse one. I have learned a few things. People think their families are WAY more interesting than they are. The SciFi/Fantasy crowd is packed to the gills with incredibly intelligent, imaginative, wildly feminist authors who love a strong female protagonist. Out of all of the authors I've worked with in various ways, only one was truly unpleasant. Them are some great odds.

One thing that has been gratifying about working primarily in SciFi/Fantasy is how generally sensitive those writers are to things like cultural appropriation, gender inclusion, mental health issues, gender fluidity... I could go on. They are generally very intentional about their choices and the purpose behind those choices.

So I just uploaded the final files for Book 11. Kenai by Dave Dobson, who won the Self-Published Sci/Fi Award this year.
