About Petrea
With almost five decades of experience as an actor, writer, and lover of the spoken word, audiobooks are the perfect fit for me.
I've narrated more than 65 audiobooks across such genres as comedic fiction, literary fiction, nonfiction, mystery, thriller and more. I've voiced commercials, radio plays and anime. My claim to fame is the voice of Ryoko, the badass space pirate in the classic anime series, Tenchi Muyo.
I'm also an author: my first novel, Camelot & Vine, which I narrated, was nominated for the 2023 SOVAS award for author narration. Having lost to Bono is becoming my new claim to fame!

comic essays, Act As If: Stumbling Through Hollywood with Headshot in Hand, will be available in audio soon.
I grew up in the farm country of northern Illinois. I earned a bachelor’s degree in creative writing/rhetoric at the University of Illinois with a double minor in acting and French. Classically trained and comically inclined, my first paid acting gig was with The Second City National Touring Company improv troupe out of Chicago. My stage experience includes comedy, drama, Shakespeare and everything in between. My training includes improv comedy, avant-garde theater and everything else, including delving into Shakespeare and the classics at the British/American Drama Academy with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company. My resume includes TV (How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, ER, The West Wing, etc.) film (Fracture, Death Becomes Her, Callback, Housebound), radio (rock DJ and LA morning drive traffic reporter) and voiceover.
I've held all kinds of day jobs, from movie theater ticket seller to travel router to waitress to bookseller to shoe seller to secretary to copy editor to book coach to writing teacher to you name it. My favorite thing is to go somewhere I've never been before. I love to travel and explore, and to hike in nature with my husband and our pit bull, Juice.
I am a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and the Audio Publishers Association.
