Description
About Wendy Tremont

I utilize my background in engineering, science, business and acting to specialize in nonfiction narration. I value the life-long learning aspect of working on nonfiction titles and dig in, as much as time allows, to research the subjects I narrate (e.g. technology, social issues, astronomy, psychology, health science, business, self-development and finance). In 2015, I moved from San Francisco, where I lived since college graduation, back to Buffalo, NY to care for my folks. I bought a house and by 2018 I was narrating full-time in my home studio, where I have produced over 200 books and counting. I got my start ... more with cozy mysteries and continue to enjoy an enthusiastic following for The Shelby Nichols Adventures by Colleen Helme. We recently released book 17 together. ----- Narration is a vocation that benefits from a diverse background. Mine is woven with science, data management, business, puppetry and voice acting. ----- I was a youth member of a travelling marionette theatre. I loved puppetry. But I was really good at math. So I got a degree in Electrical Engineering and headed out to Silicon Valley. After the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, I started a database development software company and returned to puppetry. I joined the local puppetry guild and immediately got involved in some great projects including Shadowlight Theatre’s production of In Xanadu that we ultimately performed at the Henson International Puppetry Festival at the Public Theater in New York. Working as a curriculum-based artist for Young Audiences of the Bay Area led me to an agent, voice over, commercials and a SAG card. All of this while running a software business! ---- In addition, in spare time, I worked for The Lighthouse for the Blind, narrating clinical trial documents and local and federal government documents for ADA compliance. I also volunteered with their broadcast station narrating books, magazines and grocery specials live on air. When I moved to Buffalo, I closed my software business and focused on books. ----- I am accustomed to a busy life and enjoy volunteering. I am a docent at The Burchfield Penney Art Center and the Buffalo Museum of Science where I conduct museum tours for school groups. For fun I throw stones at the Buffalo Curling Club (winter) and play croquet with the Buffalo Croquet Club (summer), garden, sew, ski and shovel snow. less
