Description
About Frances

Having worked many years as an actress in New York and Los Angeles, I now narrate audiobooks from my home studio in Basel, Switzerland. I also have a home in Mountain View, CA. My versatile voice can range from warm and mature to bright and youthful. I love the vulnerability and passion of Romance novels and the fresh adventure of YA Fantasy, where my Pagan spiritual heart is at home with the elves and fairies. I am especially thrilled to voice LGBTQ characters in both genres. In Non-Fiction I am well-suited for journalistic, memoir and political texts. I grew up New England, where I devoured the geeky ... more coolness of Harvard Square with its artsy films and alternative culture. On holidays, our family camped and hiked in the Appalachian White Mountains. As a graduate of Smith College with a BA in Theater, I’ve worked in Soaps, Off-Broadway, Independent Films, Commercials and Documentaries. My parallel interests and side jobs have included teaching yoga and political organizing. Grateful to be a life-long learner, I work to strengthen my German, Spanish and Portuguese language skills and make it a priority to maintain a strong range of accents. My family is a wide mix of Brits, Kiwis, Aussies and South Africans (although I never actually heard them call themselves “Saffas.”) It was a rich dialect environment for my young ears and fostered my fascination with the musical nuances of the English spoken language. Outside the booth, I’ve traveled to some amazing places, from Occupied Baghdad to the interior of Bahia, Brazil, where I birthed my first child at home. My second child was also born at home, in NYC. I credit my prenatal yoga teacher-training for preparing me for those empowering birth experiences. To recharge my soul, I walk in the woods, dig in the garden, read a new-to-me author, do a crafting project with the kids, visit a museum, or experiment with recipes that celebrate the delicious and nourishing powers of plants. less
